World Maritime Day celebration by Department of Marine Engineering

Association of Integrated Marine Engineering Students (AIMES), Department of Marine Engineering celebrated World Maritime day on September 26, 2019. The chief guest of the function was Prof. Veena Santhosh Rai , Coordinator- Women’s Cell & professor in the Dept. of MBA, SIT. The Theme for the World Maritime day was “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community”. In her short address to the students she enumerated the vast prospects that were available for the students of Marine Engineering. Prof. Chandra Jogi, HOD (in-charge) , Department of Marine Engineering talked about the need for gender equality and encouraged the girls to achieve their dreams. The Invocation was done by Ms. Smrithi, the master of Ceremony was Ms. Lavanya B K. The Talk on the significance of the day was done by Ms. Pavithra. The vote of thanks was given by Ms. Gangothri . The event was organized by AIMES coordinator Prof. Nithin Joshuva. The Students of 1st to 4th year of marine engineering participated in the program. All the Lady staff of the Marine & Mechanical section and the lady cadets were given mementoes. The formal function was followed by cultural events which were performed by the lady cadets.
