Technical talk on “10 years of life at sea- The Career path of a Marine Engineer”

The Institute of Engineers (I) – A Mechanical Students’ chapter of Srinivas Institute of Technology organized a talk on “10 years of life at sea- The Career path of a Marine Engineer” for the 7th semester B section Students of Mechanical Engineering on 14/11/2019 by Prof. Vivek Vijay Kumar, Department of Marine Engineering. Prof Vivek Vijay Kumar talked about the career path of a Marine Engineer and the job responsibilities handled at each rank. He also talked about the need for mechanical engineers to plan their long term career goals. He gave two real life case studies of two ships and how fundamentals studied in mechanical engineering helped to solve those issues. He also asked the students to prepare well for their interviews and talked about the need to be well dressed and prepared while attending an interview. Mr. Suhail and Mr. Pavan M V of 7th semester Mechanical engineering and faculty advisor Prof. Sathisha KG, Marine Engineering coordinated the programme.
