INDUSTRIAL VISIT to ARCI HYDERABAD by Dept of NANO TECHNOLOGY

On 13th of November 2019, there was an industrial visit for 2nd , 3rd and 4th year students to ARCI (International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials), RCI Road, Balapur PO, Hyderabad, Telangana. On 11th, 12th, and 13th November 2019, students were also taken to Chowmahalla Palace, Salar Jung Museum, Numbini Park, Hussain Sagar Lake, Birla Mandir, Charminar and NTR garden respectively for sightseeing.

On the first day reaching Hyderabad, after taking rest we went to Chowmahalla Palace, Salar Jung Museum, Numbini Park, Hussain Sagar Lake for sightseeing. Then we left to Chikkadpally for stay.

Second day morning we left to Birla Mandir, NTR garden and Charminar a monument and mosque in Hyderabad. Then returned to Chikkadpally for our stay.

On the third day we had been to ARCI (International Advanced Research Center for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials), Balapur. It is the finest research institute with industrial collaboration, which mainly concentrates in nanotechnology and its applications.

There were eleven research and development centres with modern facilities. We visited three centres and observed many instruments for synthesis and characterization.

The research and development centres and some of the instruments we observed are:

1. Centre for Nanomaterials (CNM)

- Spark Plasma Sintering

- RF Induction Plasma

- Ball milling

- High Temperature-High Vacuum-Controlled Atmosphere furnace

2. Centre for Engineered coatings (CEC)

- Electron Beam Physical Vapour Deposition

- Cold spray coating

- Solution Precursor Plasma Spraying (SPPS)

- Continuous Coating Deposition system

- Detonation Coating system

3. Centre for Carbon Materials (CCM)

4. Arc Discharge Set up

5. Laser Flash Apparatus

6. Simultaneous Thermal Analyser

7. Thermo Mechanical Analysis

8. Centre for Sol-gel Nanocomposite Coatings (CSOL)

9. Dense ceramic bodies

10. Coatings/thin films

11. Aerogels

12. Monoliths

13. Ceramic fibers

14. Centre for Solar Energy Materials (CSEM)

15. Perovskite solar cells

16. CIGS thin film solar cells

17. Solar thermal

18. Function materials and coatings

19. Performance Evaluation and Testing of PV Modules and Solar Receiver Tubes

After this we left to Mangaluru.

The Industrial visit was very informative and pleasant. It is our privilege and pleasure to thank all the people who added for the successful completion of industrial visit.

We the organizers, staff and students of Dept. of Nano Technology, express sincere gratitude to the Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, and the Management for permitting and supporting for industrial visit.
