World Earth day was celebrated by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering

World Earth day was celebrated by Department of Mechanical Engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru on 22-04-2019.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Mr. Shree Padre, editor of Adike Patrike spoke on the importance of water conservation. While speaking, he explained about drought faced by Karnataka comparing it with other states where rain fall is less than Karnataka. He insisted to create awareness of rain water harvesting and to overcome the drought by good planning, technology transform and peoples participation. It is our prime duty to preserve water, soil and forest. Drought can be overcome in two years by well planned mass effort for which educational institution part is very essential.

Dr. Thomas Pinto, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering Presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, He said the World Earth Day is being celebrated in more than 193 countries since 1970. The theme of this year is “Protect Our Species”. He said, nature has enough resources to fulfill the need of human being but the greed of the human is destroying it. Unless we conserve the resources and environment, the next generation will be deprived off clean air, water and environment. He suggested the engineers to take a lead in increasing awareness and research in this regard.

Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, SIT conveyed his well wishes. Dr. Shankar KS and Convener Prof. Lokesh V were present and Spoke on the occasion.

The program was welcomed by Mr. Prithesh Carlo, Prof. Jayaram Thumbe introduced the chief guest. Ms. Thanushree Shetty compered the program and Mr. Nithin Joshuva delivered vote of thanks.
