Webinar on “Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality”

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology-Mangaluru organized a webinar on “Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality” in association with BITES and sponsored by A Shama Rao foundation, Mangaluru on 16th October 2020. Dr. Geetha Prakash, Professor, Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru was the resource person. The Webinar began with a brief introduction about the webinar by Prof. Gangothri, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in presence of Dr.Shrinivasa Mayya D Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology,Mangaluru. Dr. Geetha Prakash in the first session introduced Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in simple terms, gave an overview of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality with different types of real time examples and elaborately discussed the differences between AR and VR. In the second session she explained about the technologies and gadgets used in Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality applications and also presented various videos on real life applications of AR and VR to make it more effective. All the participants were actively participated throughout the session and expressed their views and ideas. The sessions were quite interactive between the participants and the Resource person. About 300 students and faculty members from various departments attended and benefited from the webinar. The webinar was facilitated by Prof. Alwyn Edison Mendonca, Prof Aravind Naik and Ms. Prathiba. E-Certificates were distributed to all the Participants The webinar was conducted through Cisco WebEx platform.
