
Talk on Geographical Indication
SRINIVAS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, MANGALURU Department of Information Science and Engineering Talk On “Geographical Indication” Association of Information Science and Engineering Department, AISE, organized a talk on “Geographical Indication”, 16th October 2024. The talk on Geographical Indication (GI) emphasized its significance in protecting products linked to specific regions, such as Darjeeling tea, Mysore Silk etc. It highlighted how GI certification enhances product quality and marketability, fosters local economies, and preserves traditional knowledge. By preventing unauthorized use by producers outside the designated area, GI promotes cultural heritage and sustainable development, ensuring that consumers receive authentic products while benefiting local communities economically and socially. The event was supported by Prof. Sudarshan K, HOD, Department of ISE. It was coordinated by Sinchana from 7th Sem ISE, under the guidance of Prof. Sowmya, Staff Advisor of AISE. Students of 5 Semester IS&E, CS&D took participation.
