Report on field visit

Students of 3rd semester EEE department of Srinivas Institute of Technology, embarked on a field to YenepoyaUniversity, Deralakatte,on 27th of November,2023 to explore and understand sustainable practices related to rainwater harvesting, worm composting, and water treatment plants. This educational initiative aimed to provide students with practical insights into environmental conservation and water management.Mr. Vinayaka Bhatt, Environment Engineer of Yenepoya University guided us for the rainwater harvesting pond, waste water treatment plant and vermicomposting units.First, we visited rain water harvesting pond. They explained the importance of rainwater harvesting in water conservation and demonstrated rainwater collection systems. Later we continued our journey to water treatment plant. They explained various stages of water purification and its uses in the campus. Finally, we visited worm composting unit where they demonstrated how earthworms are used to break down organic waste, transforming it into nutrient-rich compost.
