Report on Momentum, Expert Talk Series
In the realm of technological advancements, a groundbreaking innovation has emerged, promising to reshape industries and redefine the way we interact with the world. In the view of this and to introduce the students to the new innovations, department of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Engineering in association of Srinivas Advanced Manufacturing and Research Theatre (SAMARTH) of Mechanical engineering department, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru hosting a series of technical talks called as “Momentum”.The program was formally inaugurated virtually by Mr. Nikhil Kumar Ohol, Special Engineer, EV Division. Presided by Principal of the college, Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D.The formal Function was followed by expert talk by the Resource Person Mr. Nikhil Kumar Ohol, Special Engineer, EV Division. Mr. Nikhil started his presentation with the role and scope of mechanical engineering in any of the industry. Slowly he switched the topic towards Electric Vehicles. Elaborating the reasons as why we need the electric vehicles. Talking about the reasons, Mr. Nikhil mainly quoted about reducing of carbon emission. Continuing the presentation he gave information regarding the work of any mechanical engineering in the electrical vehicle sector. Started with the product development and involvement of mechanical engineer in the product development. Then he moved on to the aerodynamics of the electric vehicle where mechanical engineer is required for the simulation and analysis regarding the aerodynamics study of the vehicle. Thermal Management being the main field even in the electrical vehicle which uses battery and motors so it requires a mechanical engineer to tackle this situation. Also Mr. Nikhil gave information on vehicle dynamics, manufacturing and assembly, safety standards, innovation and research where this electrical vehicle requires a mechanical engineer. The Session was concluded with the doubt clearing session.Dr. Shankar K S, HoD of Mechanical Engineering department addressed the attendees and informed the need of such sessions. Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of the college, was the president of the inaugural function and congratulated the departments for organizing such an informative event. Dr. Lokesh V, HoD, Marine Engineering department, Mr. SathyaPrakash A, Faculty coordinator of ASMA and CEO of SAMARTH, Mr. Sunil Prakash Rodrigues, Faculty coordinator of AIMES, HoDs of various departments, and Faculty members were present during the session. The Program was hosted by Mr. Madhava S, of 5th sem Marine Engineering t.
