The MCA Department at Srinivas Institute of Technology organized a Guest Lecture on Intellectual Property Rights on January 9th, featuring distinguished speakers including Dr. Shashidhar Kini K, Prof. Vivek V Kumar, and Mr. Rajesh Naik.Dr. Shashidhar Kini K, HOD of MCA Department, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students.Prof. Vivek V Kumar delivered a comprehensive session, highlighting key concepts of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). His expertise covered patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, providing real-world applications and emphasizing their importance.The lecture included practical examples, such as the significance of copyrights in music and social platforms. Prof. Vivek V Kumar elucidated the process of protecting ideas, works, and inventions. The example of Coca Cola Company having around 8000 patents added practical insights.Students actively participated in discussions on the influence of small innovations on societies and the role of IPR in fostering creativity. The importance of innovating and patenting ideas for societal benefit was emphasized.The event concluded with Dr. Shashidhar Kini K presenting a memento to Prof. Vivek V Kumar, acknowledging his valuable contribution to the lecture.
