Report on Expert Talk: Process of Innovation Development

Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC), Srinivas Institute of Technology, organised an expert talk on “Process of Innovation Development” on February 29, 2024 for the 5th and 7th Semester Marine and Mechanical Engineering Students at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru. The session was conducted by Mr. Mayoor Shetty, an entrepreneur, Founder of Kropix Agritech and Exports Mangaluru. He is an ex-corporate with 8 years experience in various companies based out of Bangalore. He moved to Mangalore in 2016 and founded a makers space in Bajpe, now a Farmer and working with cacao, chocolate and other fermented products. He is also part of various social causes, Executive member of FIRA.The session was conducted in online mode.Mr. Shetty, in his session briefed about his experiences as an entrepreneur. He stressed upon the need of innovation in farming sector. He has made aware the audience about his way of innovation and use of artificial Intelligence (AI) in the farming sector. He has elaborated on the challenges faced during the implementation of advanced technology and AI in the farming. He also briefed upon the process involved in the drying of cocao that he uses in his farm. Mr. Shetty spoke on the innovations that are required in the irrigation.He has answered the students queries during the question and answer session at the end.The session was coordinated by Prof. Jayaram Thumbe, from the department of Mechanical Engineering. Around 70 students from 5th and 7th semester Mechanical and Marine engineering took part in the session.Principal of SIT, Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D and IIC convener, Dr. Ramakrishna N Hegde were present
