Report on JET FLYING AND KITE FEST
The Department of Mechanical and Marine Engineering Students Association (AIMES and ASMA) organized two exciting competitions, Jet Flying and Kite Fest, at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru on March 13, 2024. These events aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and solidarity among the student community. The Jet Flying competition revolved around the craft of creating paper airplanes, while the Kite Fest highlighted the classic kite flying competition. Both gatherings drew in a substantial number of participants eager to exhibit their skills and passion. The Jet Flying competition took place at the Mechanical block and the Kite Fest was scheduled for later in the day, at 3:30 pm, on the college ground, providing ample time for preparation and anticipation. The inaugural ceremony commenced at 11:30 am with Dr. Shankar K S, the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, inaugurating the event. In his inaugural address, Dr. Shankar K S emphasized the importance of utilizing engineering techniques in both paper plane making and kite flying. He encouraged students to actively participate and apply their engineering knowledge to excel in the competitions. Following the inaugural speech, Professor Vivek Vijay Kumar elucidated the rules and regulations governing both competitions, ensuring a fair and organized environment for all participants. Dr. Lokesh V, Head of Marine Engineering, along with other faculty members, graced the event with their presence and provided valuable encouragement to the participating students. Mr. Sunil Prakash Rodrigues, Faculty Coordinator of AIMES, and Mr. Sathya Prakash A, Faculty Coordinator of ASMA, along with the student members of AIMES and ASMA, effectively organized the event. Overall, the Jet Flying and Kite Fest competitions organized by AIMES and ASMA were resounding successes, fostering camaraderie, creativity, and a spirit of healthy competition among the student body at Srinivas Institute of Technology.
