The National Maritime Day was celebrated on April 5th, 2023, at the NMPT by the Department of Marine Engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil. The event was graced by Dr. CA A. Raghavendra Rao, Honorable Chancellor, Srinivas University, and President of A Shama Rao Foundation, as well as Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Honorable Pro Chancellor, Srinivas University, and Vice-President of A Shama Rao Foundation, who served as the chief guests. A total of 51 Marine Engineering students from the department took part in the celebrations, which were coordinated by Prof Vivek Vijay Kumar, Department of Marine Engineering. As part of the festivities, an Essay writing competition on the topic of Amrit Kaal in Shipping was held, and four students from the department emerged as winners. They were Gauthami S R (1st Place), Rahul M (2nd Place), Jnanesh (3rd Place), and Varun Kumar R G H (4th Place). Additionally, these students stood as the guard of honour on the 3 Tug boats of NMPT.
