Mastering Fluid Power: A Comprehensive Workshop on Hydraulics and Pneumatic Systems

A comprehensive hands-on workshop on Hydraulics and Pneumatic Systems was conducted under the AMARA association on 15/07/2024 at the Hydraulics & Pneumatics Lab, Library Block, SIT, Mangaluru. This event provided an immersive learning experience for third-year Automobile Engineering students. The primary goal was to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with a strong emphasis on practical application to reinforce theoretical concepts. The workshop aimed to enhance participants' abilities to design, operate, and troubleshoot fluid power systems. The workshop began with an overview of the principles and fundamentals of fluid power systems, providing insights into the advantages and applications of both hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Participants were then introduced to the software tool “FluidSim” for designing and simulating fluid power systems, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a virtual environment and deepen their understanding of system behavior and performance. The workshop's focal point was the engaging hands-on activities, where participants assembled, operated, and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Guided by Mr. Prakash ST, a faculty member from the Department of Automobile Engineering, participants interacted with tangible components, gaining practical skills and boosting their confidence in managing fluid power systems. Mr. Sudheer Shetty, the Lab Instructor, assisted students in establishing connections for both hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. The successful execution of the program was made possible through the steadfast support and guidance of Dr. Ramakrishna N Hegde, Head of the Department (HOD) of Automobile Engineering, and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal. Their unwavering commitment significantly contributed to the event's overall success.
