
Innovating Dairy, Sustaining Traditions Workshop
SRINIVAS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, MANGALURU DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING “INNOVATING DAIRY, SUSTAINING TRADITIONS” On December 5, 2024, the Association of Information Science and Engineering (AISE), in association with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), organized an enlightening educational visit to the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) facility in Kulashekara, Mangalore. The event was designed for the 3rd semester students of the Information Science and Engineering (IS&E) department at Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Mangaluru. The visit aligned with the IICs theme of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through experiential learning. It aimed to provide students with practical insights into the dairy industry, highlighting its role in supporting rural livelihoods, ensuring food security, and leveraging technology for sustainable development. At the KMF facility, students explored various stages of milk processing, including pasteurization, homogenization, and packaging, while understanding the importance of quality control and hygiene. They were also introduced to the innovative technologies used to produce value-added dairy products such as butter, ghee, curd, and flavored milk. This visit served as an educational Food Walk, promoting awareness about sustainable and ethical food production practices. It showcased how technological advancements in the dairy industry contribute to environmental sustainability and economic empowerment, encouraging students to think critically about innovative solutions for global challenges. This enriching experience was supported by our beloved Principal, Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D. The visit was successfully organized under the guidance of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, IS&E, and coordinated by Prof. Sowmya, Staff Advisor of AISE. The visit was carried out under the guidance of Ms. Aparna N, Department of IS&E. The visit not only deepened the students understanding of the operational and technological aspects of the dairy industry but also inspired them to connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications, fostering innovation and entrepreneurial thinking in alignment with IICs objectives. #ISE#SRINIVAS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
