Heritage visit to Rani Abbakka Tulu Adhyayana Kendra Museum in Bantwal

The 3rd semester 125 students from the Department of Computer science and Engineering visited Rani Abbakka Tulu Adhyayana Kendra Museum in Bantwal, Karnataka on 30-01- 2024 and 01-02-2024. The objective of the visit was knowing the history and culture of the city, connecting to people around through their history. This activity is in lined with 3rd semester VTU subject Social connect and Responsibility (BSCK307) The heritage setup which was in Bantwal has covered all the related things as per the subject. It has the huge number of collections pertaining to cultural center that inspires the celebration of Tuluva history and heritage through art ancient instruments, ancient traditional houses, old artifacts, and tools used by the people before industrialization. Collection of olden days utensils were kept to preserve cereals. Dr. Thukaram Poojary is a Historian and a Museologist have given information about Tuluva freedom fighter Ranni Abbakka of Ullal Queen who fought against Portuguese, with limited manpower and with her own tactics, and was able to defeat them and also gave information about astonishing view of tuluva life through its collection of artifacts, tools and utensils, coins, inscription, manuscripts etc.This visit was supported by our beloved Principal Dr. Srinivasa Mayya D. The visit was carried out under the guidance of Prof. Ravishankar, Head of the Department, CSE. The visit was coordinated by Prof. Deepthi Dsouza from Department of CSE and students were accompanied by Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Prof. Shreya Shetty, Prof. Guruprasanna J K Prof. Deeksha from Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
