Empowering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Field Visit

To nurture innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset in second-year students, the student’s association of Marine and Mechanical Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology organized a field visit on 28/11/2023, titled “Empowering Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. The students explored PARISHUDH Wood/Cold Pressed Oil Mill and K-Tech Innovation Hub.The visit kicked off at PARISHUDH Wood/Cold Pressed Oil Mill, where Mr. Sagar, an alumnus of Srinivas Institute of Technology and founder/owner of Parishudh Oil Mill, explained wood press oil extraction techniques. He shared valuable insights on wood/cold pressed oil extraction method and starting a new venture, engaging students in discussions about efficiency, power consumption, and materials used.Subsequently, the students visited K-Tech Innovation Hub, where Ms. Akshatha, the hub's manager, highlighted its state-of-the-art facilities and entrepreneurial fundamentals. Mr. Gaurav Kamath, Co-Founder of Micro Degree and Mr. Vilas Shetty from Zilliot Technology delivered inspiring talks on job readiness and innovative products.Dr. Shankar KS, HOD Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Lokesh V, HOD Marine Engineering played crucial roles in guiding students toward the entrepreneurial aspects of mechanical and marine engineering. Dr. Shankar KS emphasized the importance of embracing innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset in today's dynamic world, specifically within the mechanical engineering domain. Dr. Lokesh V, focusing on the marine engineering perspective, highlighted the relevance of these skills beyond academia, particularly in entrepreneurship. The students were urged to assimilate the knowledge gained during the field visit as a catalyst for personal and professional growth. Prof. Sathya Prakash Anekallu, Faculty Coordinator of ASMA and Prof. Sunil Prakash R, Faculty Coordinator of AIMES meticulously organized the program, ensuring a seamless experience. The exposure and field visit sparked creativity and instilled an entrepreneurial mindset among the students.As the students recommence their academic pursuits armed with newfound knowledge, it is anticipated that these experiences will serve as a catalyst, inspiring them to conceive innovative solutions and approach entrepreneurship with confidence.
