Department of Marine Engineering BLOOD DONATION CAMP

A blood donation camp was jointly organized by AIMES (The student association of the Department of Marine Engineering), ASMA (The student association of the Department of Mechanical Engineering), and Youth Red Cross-SIT at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in collaboration with Srinivas Hospital, Mukka on October 17, 2023. The event received active participation from students and staff, resulting in the collection of 48 units of blood. The camp commenced at 09:30 AM with a brief inaugural function presided over by Dr. Shankar K S, the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at SIT Mangaluru. Dr. Madhukar, the Medical Officer at Srinivas Hospital Mukka, graced the event as the Chief Guest.Dr. Madhukar delivered a comprehensive address to the students, emphasizing the critical significance of blood donation in meeting emergency blood requirements. He underscored the profound impact of a single blood donation, equating it to the potential to save three lives. Additionally, he provided insight into the essential physical criteria for blood donation and wholeheartedly encouraged all attendees to voluntarily contribute to this noble cause.During his address, Dr. Shankar K S highlighted the significance of blood donation as an integral aspect of student social service. He commended the diligent efforts of AIMES and ASMA members, expressing his pride in the college's successful execution of the blood donation initiative. Dr. Shankar also extended his appreciation to the Srinivas Hospital, Mukka team for their invaluable support and provision of facilities. Dr. Lokesh V, HOD Marine Engineering, Prof Sunil Praksah R, AIMES faculty coordinator, Prof. Sathyapraksah A, ASMA faculty coordinator and faculty members were present on this occasion. Prof Sunil Praksah R welcomed the gathering, vote of thanks was given by Mr. Nishanth, 7th Semester Marine Engineering, Mr. Jude James from 7th semester Marine Engineering was the master of ceremonies.
