On July 26, 2024, the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science organized a special event to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas. This day marks the victory of the Indian armed forces in the Kargil War, and the department honored this significant occasion with a heartfelt program. The event featured moving accounts from students whose fathers served in the Indian army, bringing the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers closer to the hearts of all attendees. The event began with an introduction to the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, setting the tone for a day of remembrance and gratitude. Pratiksha, a 6th-semester student from AI & DS, took the stage first. She shared the gripping and inspiring experiences of her father. Pratiksha recounted several incidents, painting a vivid picture of the challenges faced by the soldiers and the extraordinary courage they displayed. Her detailed narration of the events during the Kargil War provided a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces to protect the nation. Following Pratiksha, Aman, a 4th-semester student from AI & DS, spoke about his father’s experiences in the army. Aman highlighted the discipline, dedication, and resilience required to serve in the military. He shared personal anecdotes that illustrated the strength and spirit of the soldiers, emphasizing the profound impact of their service on their families and communities. Aman's heartfelt words resonated with the audience, shedding light on the personal sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families. Chandan, also a 4th-semester student from AI & DS, continued the session by sharing stories from his father’s time in the army. He spoke about the camaraderie among soldiers and the unwavering commitment they have towards their duty. Chandan’s account emphasized the values of bravery and loyalty, inspiring everyone present to appreciate the relentless efforts of the armed forces. His reflections on his father's service provided a deeper understanding of the personal and professional lives of soldiers. The event concluded with a moment of silence to honour the fallen heroes of the Kargil War. The department expressed its gratitude to the students who shared their stories, recognizing the importance of remembering and celebrating the sacrifices of the soldiers.
