“TOBBACCO CAMPAIGN”
The Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a “tobacco Campaign” on 6th and 11th November 2024. The Tobacco Awareness Campaign, organized by NSS students was conducted near local shops to educate the public about the adverse effects of tobacco consumption. The events primary goals were to educate the public about the risks of tobacco use, encourage a tobacco-free environment, and urge retailers to refrain from selling tobacco products to children. It also sought to increase awareness among shopkeepers, consumers, and bystanders about the health risks associated with smoking and other tobacco-related products. Over 20 individuals, including shopkeepers and customers, were reached during the campaign. Locals gave the initiative positive feedback and expressed their appreciation. A number of store owners indicated that they would be willing to stop selling tobacco products close to colleges and schools. The campaign successfully created awareness about the hazards of tobacco and inspired behavioural change among a significant portion of the community. It is recommended to conduct follow-up campaigns for sustained impact. We successfully completed the campaign and brought awareness among the localities as well as inside the campus.
