A Report on Awareness On Rain Water Harvesting

An awareness activity at Valachil village, Mangaluru was organized by the students of 4th SEM, Department of Information Science & Engineering on 22rd June 2024.Awareness has been created among villagers that rain water harvesting can help them in great extent during the scarcity of water during summer.India is one of the developing countries in the world. Above 50% of the people depends upon the agriculture in our country. Water is one of the most important factor in agriculture and also other sectors. All over the world, water usages are increasing day by day, but awareness of water management for the people in the world are insufficient.Students aware the villagers about the Rooftop rainwater harvesting that is the most common technique of rainwater harvesting for domestic consumption in rural areas and this is most often done at small scale.Hold the rain water that has fallen on terrace and aslo storing water through harvesting pits also helps in usage of the rain water efficiently. Through holding rain water in harvest pits, we can increase the ground water levels drastically. One can notice drastic increase in underground water levels in very short time. Villagers are really happy to know this. Some people decided to make one. The participation of the students is highly appreciable. The program was carried out under the guidance of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department, Information Science and Engineering and Mrs. Shreekshitha, Assistant professor, Department of ISE.
