📚 'Empowering the Future of Innovation with Resources' - Marine Engineering Workshop

Mangaluru, February 25, 2025: The Department of Marine Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized a workshop titled *'Empowering the Future of Innovation with Resources'* for Marine Engineering students. The session, conducted in collaboration with the Library Committee and R&D Cell, aimed to enhance awareness of e-resources available through the VTU Consortium. Mr. Sunil Prakash R, Assistant Professor, Department of Marine Engineering, served as the resource person, providing valuable insights into the VTU Consortium’s objectives. He emphasized its role in facilitating seamless access to high-quality academic materials, including e-journals, e-books, and research databases from reputed publishers such as IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, and ProQuest. The session featured a detailed demonstration of the **Knimbus platform**, guiding participants on logging in, searching, and efficiently utilizing e-resources. A hands-on session allowed attendees to explore the Knimbus portal and learn research techniques for effective information retrieval. The event concluded with an interactive **Q&A session**, where queries related to login credentials, search strategies, and plagiarism detection tools were addressed. The workshop was attended by the Head of the Department and faculty members of the Marine Engineering Department. The event was coordinated by **Prof. Sathisha K G**, Faculty of Marine Engineering, and **Prof. Sunil Prakash R**, AIMES Coordinator, with the support of **Dr. Lokesh V**, Head of Marine Engineering, and **Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D**, Principal of the college.
