COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

Why Computer Science and Engineering?

Our modern world would be inconceivable without computer science. From engineering to business management, medicine to biology, and language processing through to psychology, sociology and archaeology – all the sciences today need computer science for the evaluation of their data. At the same time the science of processing information by means of computer programs provides the basis for the internet and mobile telephony, for airlines and financial transactions, for DVD players, televisions and cars that work – in short: for a functioning world. This creates a strong practical relevance, which is exactly what makes the subject so exciting and is opening up ever more employment opportunities for computer scientists. Computer Science, therefore, is a foward-looking discipline that offers excellent prospects for graduates.

Duration of the course: 4 Years

Students are exposed to Programming Techniques, the Design and Analysis of Algorithms , basic requirements of Software Analysis, Design and Applications and also in R&D activities. They are encouraged to participate in various technical contests which will help them gain better career opportunities.

Course Objectives:

The Computer Science program has adopted the following educational program objectives.

  • 1
Graduates will make contributions to the computing profession and apply computational solutions to solve real-world problems.
  • 2
Graduates will successfully adapt to changes in the field of computer science.
  • 3
Graduates will meet or exceed the expectations of their employers and professional mentors as computer science professionals and advance in their career.
  • 4
Graduates who choose to pursue advanced degrees will be admitted and successfully complete their degree program.
Facilities:

The department has10 computer laboratories with 350 computer terminals connected to Windows 2003/ Linux servers. All the necessary softwares required to carry out regular laboratory work and project work are available in the department. Career Opportunities

Booming IT sector in India has plenty of jobs for fresh computer science graduates. Candidates from top notch engineering colleges however get attractive job offers from MNC IT companies in comparison to not so known engineering colleges. Additionally, candidates with high percentage of mark and good communication skills as well as sound computer knowledge do not face problem in getting a job whether they are from a reputed engineering college or not. Computer engineers can get jobs in non-IT companies like universities, research, private and public industries, government departments, business organisations, commercial organisations and the manufacturing sector, etc.

Besides this the Computer Engineers have plenty of options to work in IT companies in departments such as design, development, assembly, manufacture and maintenance, etc. Working as programmer, web developer, and E- commerce specialist with telecommunications companies, automotive companies, aerospace companies, etc. can be a lucrative career option as well. Moreover, numerous national and multi-national computer manufacturing companies, computer hardware system design and development companies, computer networking companies, software development companies, etc. require computer professionals in large numbers.
