INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO DRDO CHALLAKERE

DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization)located at Challakere (Chitradurga) is an Aeronautical Test range (ATR).It is an out-door testing and evaluation facility, exclusively for unmanned and manned aircraft. The ATR is under the command of the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE). On receiving the letter of permission from DRDO, students with two faculty members went on Industrial visit to the DRDO Office on 13th July, 2023. We reach the office at 1 pm. In the security we submitted our mobile phones for safety purpose. Later Research Scientist in chargegave brief information about thetesting range. Then he explained about the history and its achievements. It has a Range Control Centre (RCC) with air traffic display system. It is equipped with a mission video distribution and display system. It has a Radar Centre which houses primary and secondary surveillance radars. It has two hangars which houses unmanned aerial vehicles Rustom-1,Swift and Rustom-2. Along with thatATR is intended to conduct the trials of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), air-to-ground weapons, parachutes and aerostats. The visit came to an end at 4pm. The main objective behind the visit was to make students aware about how various activities related to servicing, building and human resources are carried out in company.
