Technical Talk on “Aircraft Maintenance and Job opportunities in Aeronautical Engineering” - The Department of Aeronautical Engineering and AMARA Association, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru, organised a Technical Talk on “Aircraft Maintenance and Job opportunities in Aeronautical Engineering” on 26/04/2017 by Prof. Ramesh Kumar, Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology. Professor briefed the students about the importance of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and Job opportunities in Aeronautical.

A batch of 105 students of 3rd, 5th and 7th semester Aeronautical Engineering along with all the faculty members of the department participated in the technical talk on “Indian Aeronautics & Aerospace Projects and Vision 2020 of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam” by the resource person Mr. Jayaprakash Rao K, Former Public Relations Officer, DRDO, Bengaluru. Mr. Jayaprakash spoke about Indian Missiles like BrahMos ICBM, Project Chandrayaan of ISRO, LCA Tejas of HAL and short working history of HAL, NAL and DRDO. Later, he discussed about UAVs, LCA Navy Flights and certain career aspects of training programs of Indian Defence Academy. Then, very rare video clipping of all these were shown. He also spoke a lot about Vision 2020 of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

AGNI AERO SPORTS ADVENTURE ACADEMY PVT LTD - Third semester students of Aeronautical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru visited Agni aero sports adventure academy Pvt Ltd., Bengaluru and Albatross Flying Systems., Bengaluru on 12/10/2018 & 13/10/2018.The students had interaction with the engineers and got useful input about the types of small aero engines, gliders and their control, flying inputs etc.

Bharat Earth Movers Ltd, KGF, Karnataka - 30 students of the 5th semester Aeronautical engineering students visited the Bharat Earth Movers Limited, BEML Nagar, KGF, Karnataka on 17th November 2018. The students visited 5 different bays of BEML Manufacturing units; Defence Assembly Workshop which manufactured the Heavy Duty TATRA Trucks, Gear Shop, Excavator & Wheeled equipment assembly shop, Dozer assembly shop and the heat treatment shop. The experts explained the manufacturing and assembly of TATRA Trucks very large sized spur gears, internal gears etc., bull dozers, excavators, wheel dozers , radiator guards and track frame sub-assembly heat treatment process using large sized different types of furnaces.

Vikram Sarabhai Aerospace Centre, Trivandrum - 4th year students of Aeronautical Engineering, visited Vikram Sarabhai Aerospace Centre, Trivandrum on 29/10/2018 & 30/10/2018. The students had interaction with the scientists and gained useful knowledge about Space vehicle design, build, assembly, testing and launching procedures.

A batch of 20 students, 5th Semester, Aeronautical Engineering along with Prof. Deepak Raj PY and Prof. Jagadeesh B visited the Jet Aerospace Aviation Research Centre, Kerala on 13.09.2019. The Research Centre mainly focuses on creating awareness regarding the advancements in UAV and UAS indigenously. Jet Aerospace centre is specialized in the area of UAV research and developments in sectors like Defence Surveillance, Forest Resource Research, Industrial inspection, GIS Mapping, Data Processing, exploitation and transfer using UAV technologies.

In order to sensitize and create an awareness of the social responsibility among the students and the general public, the staff and students of department of Aeronautical & Automobile engineering, Srinivas institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru conducted a “Swachha Abhiyaan” in association with Ramakrishna Mission on 29th September 2019 at central market, Mangaluru. The faculty advisors Mr. Deepak Raj P.Y, Mr. Avinash H.S, Mr. Prakash S.T, Mr. Santosh Kumar K, and Mr. Jagadeesh B along with the students cleaned Rosario Church road and created an awareness among the local public about the need for keeping the surroundings clean, to ensure a healthy living.

Department of Aeronautical Engineering in Association with “AMARA” - Automobile and Aeronautical Association, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru celebrated Teachers day on September 05, 2019. Mr. M. Sheshagiri, Vice Principal, Vidyarashmi First Grade College, Savanoor, was the chief guest and he emphasized on the importance of good teachers on society to transform the nation as number one in the world. He also mentioned the transformation of teaching from past to present.

The college organises intra college competition called “Altius” and a national level techno-cultural fest “Envision 2020”. The department had competitions like Paint Ball, Water Rocketry, Patagium (Parachute making) and paper presentations.
