The Innovation Cell at Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Mangalore, is designed to foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among students and faculty members. It operates with the primary goal of turning innovative ideas into practical solutions and successful startups.

Objectives:

• • Promote Innovation: Cultivate a culture of innovation and creative thinking across all departments.
• • Support Startups: Provide students with the necessary resources and mentorship to transform their ideas into startups.
• • Enhance Employability: Equip students with entrepreneurial skills and technical expertise relevant to the industry.
• • Collaborate with Industry: Build partnerships with industry leaders to offer insights and opportunities for students.

Activities:

• • Workshops & Seminars: Regular sessions on entrepreneurship, idea validation, and technical skills development.
• • Hackathons & Competitions: Organizes innovation-driven competitions, encouraging students to develop solutions to real-world problems.
• • Startup Mentorship: Offers guidance and mentorship programs for students aspiring to become entrepreneurs.
• • Collaboration with MHRD and AICTE Programs: Encourages participation in national innovation challenges and schemes.

Through these initiatives, the Innovation Cell nurtures a vibrant ecosystem that inspires students to take initiative in solving societal challenges through technology.

Innovation Cell Activities Report for the Academic Year 2023-24

• • SIT Institute’s Innovation Council, in association with Google Developer Students Club (GDSC), Innovation, and Yukthi Cell, jointly organized the 24-Hour National Level Heckathon – Roolathon from December 21st to 22nd, 2023(https://sitmng.ac.in/SIT/Event-Details?url=Report-on-Roolathon ).
• • The SIT IIC, Innovation, GDSC, and Yukthi cell, along with SIT Startups Samyak Tech, Samagra Technologies, and SAMARTH, in collaboration with K.Tech Innovation Hub, organized “IDEAHARVEST - A Hackathon for Student Entrepreneurs” on 07/02/2024. • • SIT IIC and Innovation Cell, in association with GDSC, SIT Karnataka, organized sessions on “Startup and Ethical Steps” on May 6, 2024, at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. It was a day-long event focusing on startup strategies and the ethical steps necessary for budding entrepreneurs. The event featured several startup talks from the following prominent speakers: Adarsh Prabhu, Associate Director – Technology & Innovations at Niveus Solutions Pvt. • • The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) in association with Innovation cell and IIC hosted a session on "Startup Initiatives: Workshop on Process Design and Development" on May 28, 2024, at 9 AM for Innovation and Design Thinking with a motto of building Entrepreneurship & Start up skills among students.
• • The Departments of MCA, CSE, ISE, and AI-DS, in association with the IIC Cell and Innovation Cell, organized a session titled "Innovate to Elevate: Ideation and Validation Strategies" on 6th July 2024 for 2nd-year students at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. • • Workshops on “Innovate to Create”, “Empathy to Execution: Design Thinking in Action”, “Idea to Impact: Hands-on Design Thinking”, Workshop “ProtoThink: The Innovation Workshop”, Workshop “IDEATE 360: Full Circle Design Thinking”, "InnovateX: Design Thinking Bootcamp", "Empathy to Innovation: A Design Sprint", " Creative Catalyst: Design Thinking Workshop" etc were conducted for the I year students by Dr. Prasad P (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZYFLPjMBSU-FjLB2VSNsuvqI8qJaoyyj?usp=sharing).
• • The Yukthi Cell, in collaboration with the Innovation Ambassadors under the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a Demo Day and Startup Competition on August 16, 2023. This event offered students an opportunity to present their innovative prototypes and entrepreneurial ideas, highlighting the institution's commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
• • The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Yukthi Cell, successfully organized DEATHON 2023, an IDEATHON competition, on November 6-7, 2023. This event was designed to identify and foster innovative ideas among final-year students from various departments, promoting creativity and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• • Each department, in collaboration with the Yukthi Cell under the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized Prototype Demo Presentation in the month of February and March 2024.
• • In collaboration with the Yukthi Cell under the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), each department successfully organized a Business Plan and Logo Competition in the month of April 2024.
• • Each department, in collaboration with the Yukthi Cell, successfully organized an Idea Presentation Event in the first and second weeks of July 2024 at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangalore. This event provided a platform for budding entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts to showcase their innovative startup ideas and technological solutions.

Innovation Cell Activities Report for the Academic Year 2022-23

• • Conducted an IDEATION competition on 19/11/2022. Different themes were given to the students and they have to present a solution to the problem. Twenty students presented their ideas at this event. The students pitched their ideas on the themes like Bio-Degradable water bottles, Use/Reuse of condemned vehicles/Buses and many more(https://www.sitmng.ac.in/SIT/Event-Details?url=Yukti-Ideathon2022 ).
• • Organized an “Inter-Institutional Idea Competition/Presentation” on 18-10-2022 for the Final year ECE students. Dr. Soorya Krishna K gave a brief presentation on Innovation, Startup, Ideathon and Hackathon.
• • Conducted an INNOVATION COMPETITION on 23/02/2023. Different themes were given to the students and they have to present a solution to the problem. Thirteen students presented their ideas at this event.
