Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) Cell

The Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) Cell at Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Mangaluru, is a dedicated initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among students. The primary purpose of the EDP Cell is to nurture an entrepreneurial spirit within the student community, enabling them to transform innovative ideas into successful business ventures.

Objectives:

•Skill Development: Equip students with essential entrepreneurial skills, including business planning, financial literacy, marketing strategies, and leadership.
• Startup Support: Provide guidance and resources to help students develop their business ideas, from conceptualization to execution.
• Awareness and Education: Inform students about various government schemes, funding opportunities, and support systems available for startups.
• Networking Opportunities: Facilitate connections between students and industry professionals, mentors, and potential investors to enhance learning and collaboration.
• Innovation Promotion: Encourage creativity and problem-solving by supporting innovative projects and solutions that address real-world challenges.
• Encouraging Research and Development: Inspire students to engage in research that can lead to new products or services, enhancing their entrepreneurial journey.

Activities:

• Workshops and Seminars: Conduct sessions on various aspects of entrepreneurship, featuring industry experts and successful entrepreneurs.
• Competitions: Organize events such as business plan contests and pitch competitions to encourage practical application of entrepreneurial concepts.
• Networking Events: Interactions with successful entrepreneurs and industry leaders to inspire and guide students.

The EDP Cell at SIT Mangalore plays a vital role in shaping the entrepreneurial landscape of the institution, empowering students to become innovators and leaders in their respective fields.

EDP Cell Activities Report for the Academic Year 2023-24

• The SIT EDP Cell, in association with the IIC Cell, hosted the 'National Entrepreneurship Day Celebration' on 9-11-2023. Dr. Praahas Amin, HOD of Computer Science and Design at Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu, and Managing Director of Flashflow Technologies OPC Pvt. • The inauguration of the Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) on the third floor of the Academic Block at Srinivas Institute of Technology took place on December 20, 2023, with Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D lighting the lamp. He congratulated the students and encouraged them to make use of this club to gain knowledge. Professor Shailesh Shetty served as the Faculty Advisor of the GDSC Club. • SIT Institute’s Innovation Council, in association with Google Developer Students Club (GDSC), EDP, and Yukthi Cell, jointly organized the 24-Hour National Level Heckathon – Roolathon from December 21st to 22nd, 2023 (https://sitmng.ac.in/SIT/Event-Details?url=Report-on-Roolathon ).
• The SIT IIC, EDP, GDSC, and Yukthi cell, along with SIT Startups Samyak Tech, Samagra Technologies, and SAMARTH, in collaboration with K.Tech Innovation Hub, organized “IDEAHARVEST - A Hackathon for Student Entrepreneurs” on 07/02/2024. • The SIT IIC cell, in collaboration with the EDP cell and associations from the ECE, Mech, Marine, Aeronautical, and CSBS branches, organized a Sensitization Session on the "TITAN Design Impact Movement" in partnership with K-Tech Innovation Hub, Mangalore on 09/01/2024. • SIT IIC and EDP Cell, in association with GDSC, SIT Karnataka, organized sessions on “Startup and Ethical Steps” on May 6, 2024, at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. It was a day-long event focusing on startup strategies and the ethical steps necessary for budding entrepreneurs. • The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) in association with EDP cell and IIC hosted a session on "Startup Initiatives: Workshop on Process Design and Development" on May 28, 2024, at 9 AM for Innovation and Design Thinking with a motto of building Entrepreneurship & Start up skills among students.
• The Departments of MCA, CSE, ISE, and AI-DS, in association with the IIC Cell and EDP Cell, organized a session titled "Innovate to Elevate: Ideation and Validation Strategies" on 6th July 2024 for 2nd-year students at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. • Organized a talk on “Opportunities in Saudi Arabia” for Engineering, MBA and MCA students on 18th August 2022. • Organized a 3 Day Workshop on "Implementation of IoT - Controlling Devices Over the Internet" from 21 to 23, Nov 2022. Mr. Siddarth Shankar B R, Software Solution Architect from 10 SECONDS was the resource person for the workshop.
• Conducted workshop on “Intel India STEM Skills Program for Women”. The program was conducted on 4-11-2022 in Seminar Hall. Ms. Poornima Badiger was the resource person. • Organized a Half Day Workshop on "Design Thinking and Critical Thinking - Comedkares Program" on 20-12-2022. Ms. Roopalakshmi and Ms. Saeedah were the resource persons from Comedkares, Mangaluru. • The Department of MBA had organised a session on "Achieving Problem Solution Fit and Product Market Fit" on 31st December 2022 in the college AC Seminar Hall. • The session on "Bootcamp on Startup Careers" conducted by the SIT EDP Cell in association with SSOSC on 17-6-2023. Mr. Sujith D, a Frontend Developer at Recruiterflow and an entrepreneur, shared his practical insights and experiences with the attendees. • A session on "From Dream to Reality: Unleashing the Entrepreneur Within You" was organized by the SIT EDP Cell in association with SSOSC on 17-6-2023. Mr. Mohammed Raees, Founder, Rooloo Innovations Pvt Ltd was the resource person. • Srinivas Student's Open Source Community (SSOSC) was inaugurated on 17-6-2023. EDP Cell Activities Report for the Academic Year 2021-22

• Organized “A two day virtual Talent Selection Boot camp” on August 6th and 7th, 2021. The program was conducted in association with Inunity Mangalore(https://www.sitmng.ac.in/SIT/Event-Details?url=SIT-ECE-virtual-Talent-Selection-Boot-camp ).
• EDP awareness week was conducted in SIT Mangaluru from 22-11-2021 to 27-11-2021. In this week, coordinators of each department spoke to the 3rd, 5th, and 7th sem students on the importance of EDP, government initiatives on this, and why the students have to take the Start-up.
• Ministry of MSME launched a mass outreach program called “SAMBHAV National Level Awareness Program” to encourage the students to take entrepreneurship. As a part of this, SIT EDP cell in association with MSME, Mangaluru organized “SAMBHAV - National Level Awareness Program” on 26-11-2021 in SIT, Mangaluru.
• Organized a programme on how to create innovations for young entrepreneurs by In-unity Mangaluru on 7-4-2022. In-Unity LLP focuses on educating youth in higher education through community-centric education, marking an important first step toward developing the next generation of entrepreneurs.

• Organised a programme on how to plan for Start-up and legal and Ethical Steps for young entrepreneurs on 26th April 2022 at the institute's Seminar hall. • A series of webinars of Session 1 under the Impact Lecture Series has been organized on Tuesday, July 15, 2022.
• The Institute's Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP) cell, has organized a visit to attend the function “Be an Entrepreneur Become an Employer”, workshop under the activity “Field/Exposure Visit to Incubation Unit/Patent Facilitation Center/Technology Transfer Center” on 12th May 2022 at TMA Pai International Convention center, M G Road, Kodialbail, Mangalore(https://www.sitmng.ac.in/SIT/News-Events?newsEvents=3&pageNumber=57 ).
• The Institute's Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP) cell, has organized a “Training Programme” in association with the company TinkerSpace.in on 20-6-2022. The founder of TinkerSpace was Mr. Manoj Acharya M and he was the resource person for the program. • Prof. Uday Kumar, Associate Professor, and Prof. Sahana G. Kundar, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, member of EDP cell organized a talk on “Importance and Necessity of EDP and Incubation Cell in the college” on 24-09-2019 in the class room for the students of ECE department.
• Prof. Sulthan Mohyuddin, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Member of EDP Cell organized a talk on “Importance and Necessity of EDP and Incubation Cell in the College” on 26/02/2020 for B1 section class room for the Students of Electronics and Communication and Mechanical Department.
• EDP and Incubation Cell of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangalore organized “NIDHI - EIR Awareness Programme” is assoication with Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI), Manipal on Monday, 30th September, 2019. Dr. Santhosha Rao Assistant General Manager, MUTBI, Manipal spoke on “Manipal Incubators and NIDHI-EIR”. Mr. Mayur Shetty Director, Blackfrog Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Shared “Enterpreneurship journey - experience sharing & interaction” with the students.
