Voters Awareness program by AMARA

Department of Aeronautical and Automobile engineering, Srinivas institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru successfully conducted a “Voters Awareness Program” in association with SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program) on 1st April 2019 in Lalabhag area Mangaluru that recorded lower voting in the previous election, as identified by the Election Commission. This voter awareness drive was also a part of sensitizing the department students about social responsibility. The faculty advisor Mr. Deepak Raj P Y, Aeronautical Department, explained to students regarding details of awareness program and the faculty members, Mr. Prakash ST, Mr. Abhilash V, in association with the students created awareness among the local public about the importance of Voting and Right to Vote. The students distributed pamphlets carrying the ‘Voter’s Pledge’ to the people of the locality and pasted some stickers in front of shops and hotels. The students successfully motivated the public and covered Lalbhag, KSRTC Bejai, Mannugudda, Ballalbhag and nearby areas of Mangala stadium. More than 50 students participated in this program. The program was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Sudhakar, Head of Yuva Jana and SVEEP committee and Dr. Ramakrishna N. Hegde, HOD, Aeronautical & Automobile engineering. The department is looking forward for more social activities in the near future.
