ISE Department Conducts ‘Smile for Health’ – Free Dental Check-up Camp

On **April 4th, 2025**, the **Association of Information Science and Engineering (AISE)**, in collaboration with the **National Service Scheme (NSS)** unit and **Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mukka**, organized a **Free Dental Check-up Camp** titled **“Smile for Health”** for the students and faculty of **Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru**. The main objective of the camp was to **raise awareness on oral hygiene** and to provide **free dental consultation** to the campus community. A team of **experienced dental professionals and student doctors** from Srinivas Dental Sciences conducted the camp, offering consultations, basic dental checkups, and sharing **practical dental hygiene tips**. The event saw enthusiastic participation from **students and staff members**, demonstrating an increased awareness toward dental health. The session was **coordinated by Spoorthi and Priyanka P of 6th Semester ISE**, with support from **NSS volunteers**. More than **50+ participants** availed the services, learning about the **importance of regular check-ups, proper brushing techniques, and the consequences of poor oral hygiene**. The **interactive sessions** with the dental professionals proved to be both **educational and engaging**. The event's success was attributed to the encouragement of **Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D**, Principal of SIT, and the guidance of **Prof. Sudarshan K**, Head of the IS&E Department. The camp was well coordinated by **Prof. Rakesh Mallya**, NSS Coordinator, **Prof. Sowmya**, Staff Advisor of AISE, and **Ms. Aparna N**, Event Coordinator. This dental camp highlighted the **importance of preventive healthcare** and fostered **interdisciplinary collaboration** between technical and medical institutions. It also promoted **social responsibility and community well-being**, encouraging students to become active and health-conscious citizens.
