Hands on session on Intellectual Property Rights

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with IPR cell of SIT Mangaluru organized a hands-on-session on “The need for IPR and Prior Art Search”, on 30th August 2019. Total 63 Students of final year UG Mechanical Engineering participated in the session. Prof Chandra Jogi and Prof. Vivek Vijay Kumar were the resource persons.

In this session the information about What, Why, When, Where and the How’s of IP were explained. The students were guided through a mock Prior Art search after which they were asked to do a prior art search using the Google Patent, Indian Patent and US patent search engines. Also explained about the importance of patent search to apply for a new patent.
