Gyan Setu 2025: Outreach Workshop for Rural School Students
On March 26, 2025, under the Institute’s Innovation Cell, Association of Information Science and Engineering (AISE) and the Association of Computer Science and Design (ACODE), students from the Department of ISE and CSD organized a workshop, “Gyan Setu: Bridging Young Learners to a Promising Future,” for students at a government primary school in Maripalla. The workshop aimed to support local students in enhancing their academic performance and provide guidance on higher education opportunities. Many students from rural areas face challenges such as limited resources, lack of career guidance, and low awareness of educational opportunities beyond school. This workshop sought to address these issues through engaging activities and practical advice. Sessions focused on improving study habits, time management, and effective use of learning resources while also introducing students to scholarships and higher education options. In addition, career guidance and mentorship were provided to help students explore potential career paths and understand the college application process. Following the activities, a Q&A session was held, encouraging students to ask questions about academic planning and higher education. Many students expressed concerns about accessing resources and managing their studies alongside personal responsibilities, leading to meaningful discussions and guidance. The event was supported by Prof. Sudarshan K., Head of the Department (HOD), ISE & CSD. The event was coordinated by Ms. Aparna N under the guidance of Prof. Sowmya, Staff Advisor of AISE. Their teamwork and dedication ensured the smooth execution of the workshop. The initiative proved to be a valuable experience for both the participants and organizers. It provided local students with an opportunity to understand the importance of academic success and explore pathways to higher education. Workshops like these play a crucial role in bridging educational gaps by equipping students with the necessary guidance and resources to succeed. Encouraged by the success of this workshop, future efforts aim to expand such initiatives to more local schools, ensuring that a greater number of students receive the support and knowledge needed to pursue higher education confidently.
