From Industry Experience to Academic Excellence: The Value of Internships and Publications On 4th April 2025, the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at Srinivas Institute of Technology hosted a thought-provoking session titled "From Industry Experience to Academic Excellence: The Value of Internships and Publications." The event featured Mr. Prashanth Kannadaguli from Dharani Academy, who drew upon his vast industry experience to emphasize the critical role internships and academic publications play in shaping a well-rounded professional profile. Mr. Prashanth highlighted how internships serve as a gateway for students to gain hands-on exposure to real-world challenges, bridging the gap between classroom theory and practical application. He stressed the importance of acquiring both technical proficiency and soft skills during internship stints, while also urging students to take initiative in presenting and publishing their work at conferences and in reputable journals. Mr. Prashanth elaborated on how publishing research not only strengthens a student's resume but also cultivates a mindset of innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving. He encouraged students to explore opportunities for collaboration with academic mentors, industry experts, and peers to refine their ideas and contribute meaningfully to their fields of interest. The interactive session provided valuable guidance on identifying suitable internship opportunities, building a professional network, and preparing effective research papers. Students actively participated in the Q&A session, seeking clarity on how to align their academic projects with industry expectations and convert their work into publishable content. The event was made possible through the unwavering support of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, who consistently advocates for bridging the gap between academia and industry. Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator, ensured the session aligned with the council's mission to foster innovation and professional growth among students. Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the IS&E Department, provided key leadership, and Prof. Rakesh Malya, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, motivated the students for the benefit of internship, while Prof. Sowmya, IIC Event Coordinator from the Department of Information Science and Engineering, executed the event with precision and ensured student engagement throughout. The session left a lasting impact, motivating participants to pursue internships and publications as integral steps in becoming industry-ready professionals.
