A Technical talk on “Marine Crew Resource Management”

The Association of Integrated Marine Engineering Students (AIMES) has organized a technical talk on “Marine Crew Resource Management” for marine students on 21st March 2019 at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru.

Mr. Chethan Patwal, 3rd Engineer in Nortan shipping Mangament , Mangaluru was the resource person who has 6 years experience as sailing engineer. He has sailed in Product Carrier and Bulk Carrier such as MT Seasenetor, MT Searanger, MT Seanostrum, MV Silver dragon.

Mr. Chethan spoke about the major accidents occurred because of human physical and mental stress, and conveyed about the crew management behaviour on board. He exemplified the kind of qualities that the officer should have when interacting with the crew on board. He stressed on the importance of taking up the job on board with high sense of responsibilities. He guided the students about job prospects after B.E for marine engineers and emphasized the need of being disciplined in marine world. Prof.Tony K Sebastian Faculty Adviser of AIMES, explained the current scenario of shipping and role of a marine engineer in society.

Ms. Arsala Jamshed of 2nd year marine welcomed the gathering while Mr. Rajendra Reddy of 3rd year proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Shankar K S HOD of Marine department, AIMES faculty advisor Prof. Tony K Sebastian, Prof. Nithin Joshuva and AIMES Vice president Mr. Chandan A were among the dignitaries on the dais.
