Department of Information Science and Engineering Online Chess Tournament
The chess tournament organized by Association of Information science and Engineering at Srinivas Institute of Technology on 15th December 2023 showcased intense competition and strategic prowess among participants. Under the guidance of respected Principal Dr Srinivasa Mayya D, Head of the department of Information Science and Engineering Prof. Sudarshan K and Staff Advisor Prof. Sowmya, final year students of Information Science and Engineering Arpith K, Deepak Kumar and Abhishek Bhat successfully coordinated the Chess Tournament. The event attracted chess enthusiasts from various academic disciplines. The tournament followed a knockout format, that is the loser of each match was immediately eliminated from the tournament. Number of rounds were conducted, leading to a captivating climax where a player who maintains an unbeaten record throughout the tournament won the championship. A diverse group of participants ranging from beginners to seasoned players added to the tournament's vibrancy. The inclusive nature of the event fostered a sense of camaraderie among players. Several matches stood out for their exceptional gameplay and strategic brilliance. The participants has showed different key moments and tactics. The tournament recognized outstanding performers. The quarter finals, semifinals and the final matches were done in offline mode i.e by the chess board whereas other matches were conducted in online mode using ‘chess.com’ application. The tournament attracted a sizable audience, including not just chess enthusiasts but also curious onlookers. The lively atmosphere, punctuated by gasps and applause, contributed to the overall excitement. Congratulations to Mohammed Rifaz from 3rd year Electronics and Communication Engineering who secured 1st prize and Vikesh from 2nd year Computer Science and Business Engineering who secured the 2nd place in the chess tournament. The success of the chess tournament at Srinivas Institute of Technology reflects the growing interest in strategic games within the student community. The organizers, participants, and spectators all contributed to the event's success. We anticipate future tournaments to continue fostering a passion for chess on our campus.
