Accelerators/Incubation Opportunities for Students and Faculties – Early-Stage Entrepreneurs
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Yukthi Cell, organized an insightful session on “Accelerators/Incubation Opportunities for Students and Faculties – Early-Stage Entrepreneurs” on 14 August 2026. The programme was held at the Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI), Manipal, with the objective of creating awareness about entrepreneurship, incubation, acceleration, and the opportunities available to students and faculty members interested in developing innovative ideas into viable start-ups.
Dr. Santhosha Rao, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI), gave an insightful talk on the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the role of incubation in helping aspiring entrepreneurs transform innovative ideas into sustainable ventures. His professional association with MUTBI and his work in nurturing entrepreneurship provide valuable practical perspectives for students and early-stage innovators.
The session highlighted the importance of identifying real-world problems, developing innovative solutions, validating ideas, and progressing systematically from ideation to prototype development and commercialization. Participants were introduced to the role of
incubators and accelerators in providing mentoring, infrastructure, technical guidance, networking opportunities, industry connections, and access to potential funding avenues. SIT’s Incubation and Startup Cell similarly focuses on mentoring students and faculty, connecting innovators with industry and investors, and supporting the journey from ideation to market entry.
