Sadbavan Diwas
The Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized Sadbhavana Divas on 20th August 2026.
Sadbhavana Divas, observed on 20th August every year, promotes the values of peace, national integration, communal harmony, tolerance, and unity among people. The day emphasizes the importance of respecting diversity and encouraging people from different religions, communities, cultures, and backgrounds to live together with mutual respect and understanding. As part of the programme, students were sensitized to the importance of unity in diversity and the need to create an inclusive environment free from discrimination based on religion, caste, creed, language, gender, or other differences. Students were encouraged to respect one another, uphold equality, and contribute positively towards building a peaceful and harmonious society.
The students also took a pledge to maintain unity and harmony among themselves, respect people from different communities and backgrounds, and refrain from discrimination on religious, social, or cultural grounds. The pledge reinforced the message that diversity should be viewed as strength and that mutual respect and cooperation are essential for a united society.
The programme was coordinated by Prof. Chandra Jogi, NSS Coordinator, with the support of Prof. Vivek V. Kumar, AIMES Coordinator, and under the guidance of Dr. Lokesh V., HOD, Marine Engineering, and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology. The celebration provided students with an opportunity to reflect on the values of peace, tolerance, equality, and national integration. The programme concluded with a strong message that everyone has a responsibility to promote harmony, reject discrimination, and build bridges of understanding and friendship within society.
