The Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and YUKTI Cell, successfully organized “Project Demo Day: Innovation & Mentoring” on 20th and 21st August 2026. The event was conducted with the objective of encouraging innovation, fostering creativity, and providing students with a platform to showcase their project ideas, prototypes, and working models.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the Department of Marine Engineering, who presented their innovative projects and demonstrated the progress of their work. During the presentations, students explained the objectives, methodology, novelty, technical aspects, and practical applications of their projects. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to exhibit their problem-solving skills and engineering knowledge while receiving constructive feedback from experts.

Prof. Sathisha K. G. served as the External Judge for the event. He carefully evaluated and graded the projects based on various parameters, including innovation, technical content, practical relevance, feasibility, and overall development. His expert observations and insightful suggestions helped students identify areas for improvement and encouraged them to refine their projects further. The mentoring and feedback sessions were highly beneficial, enabling students to gain a clearer understanding of project development and implementation strategies. The event highlighted the importance of transforming innovative ideas into viable solutions through systematic design, prototyping, validation, and product development. It also motivated students to think entrepreneurially and explore the potential of converting their projects into sustainable products and startups.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Sunil Prakash R., with the support and guidance of Dr. Lokesh V., Head, Department of Marine Engineering, whose encouragement and leadership contributed significantly to the successful organization of the programme. The programme was conducted under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology.
