At the outset, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering expresses its heartfelt gratitude to our beloved Principal, Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, for his continuous guidance, motivation, and unconditional support, which have been the driving force behind all departmental initiatives and student development activities.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized a workshop on “Getting Started with VS Code and AI Extensions” on 4th October 2025. The session was conducted by Mr. Aniruddha K V, a final-year student of the department.

The objective of the workshop was to introduce students to the Visual Studio Code (VS Code) platform, its various extensions, and the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in enhancing coding efficiency and productivity.

During the session, the resource person demonstrated the installation and setup of VS Code, explained how to effectively utilize different extensions, and showcased how AI-powered tools can assist in writing, debugging, and optimizing code.

In the hands-on session, participants developed a mini-project using AI extensions in VS Code, gaining practical exposure to real-time implementation within a short duration. The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation, especially from students of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch, many of whom were beginners in coding. The workshop proved to be an excellent starting point for them to embark on their coding journey.

At the conclusion of the session, students shared positive feedback, appreciating the interactive and practical approach of the workshop. Mr. Lokesha B, Head of the Department, addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative taken by the organizing team.

Teaching staff members — Mr. Harshith K (E&EE Department Association Coordinator), Mr. Bheema Shastry C, and Mr. Sudhir P — were appreciated for their support and encouragement in organizing the workshop.

Students including Mr. Prajwal Kallammanaver, Mr. Vishwas Gowda, Mr. Likhith Shetty, Mr. Shivaraja T, Ms. Pallavi C, Ms. Sannidhi S, Mr. Namruth, and Mr. Shreyas K shared their feedback, expressing that the session was highly informative and motivating.

In summary, the workshop on “Getting Started with VS Code and AI Extensions” successfully introduced students to the integration of modern AI tools in software development. Conducted by a final-year student under the guidance of Mr. Harshith K, it served as an inspiration for participants to pursue coding with enthusiasm and confidence, marking a valuable step toward fostering technical learning and innovation among EEE students.
