On September 29, 2025, under the Institute’s Innovation Cell (IIC), the Departments of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) and Computer Science and Design (CSD), in association with the Association of Information Science and Engineering (AISE) and the Association of Computer Science and Design Engineering (ACODE), jointly organized an interactive Public Speaking session titled “VOICES OF INNOVATION: a Platform to pitch, persuade, and inspire” for 5th-semester students.

During the event, students were divided into teams and assigned diverse topics such as the impact of climate change on global weather patterns, exploring the future of virtual reality, the impact of smart devices on daily living, preserving national heritage and cultural identity, the importance of women’s empowerment in the workplace, the role of libraries in promoting a reading culture, the impact of poverty on access to education, and the impact of social media on interpersonal relationships. After a preparation period, one student from each team presented the topic to the audience, allowing participants to enhance public speaking abilities and develop stronger communication skills.

In the concluding session, Ms. Aparna N., Faculty Coordinator, highlighted essential aspects of effective public speaking, including key topics to focus on, strategies for staying composed when stuck, and techniques to improve clarity and engagement while addressing an audience. This guidance provided practical tips for students to refine communication skills and gain confidence in presenting ideas.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the 5th-semester students, who actively engaged in discussions and presentations. The session was supported by Prof. Sudarshan K., Head of the Departments of ISE and CSD, and was coordinated by Ms. Aparna N., under the mentorship of Prof. Sowmya, Staff Advisor, AISE, and Prof. Archana D., Staff Advisor, ACODE. Their guidance and encouragement contributed significantly to the success of the session.

The program proved to be an enriching experience, helping students improve public speaking capabilities, develop effective communication strategies, and build the confidence to present ideas with clarity and conviction.
