The National Service Scheme (NSS), Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with the Youth Red Cross Association, organized an Awareness Programme on Blood Cancer and Stem Cell Donation followed by a Registration Drive on 18 August 2026 at the Institute Auditorium.

The resource persons, Ms. Saswati Dutta and Ms. Fedrica Edin Brow from DKMS Foundation India, gave a presentation on blood cancer, the need for stem cell transplantation, and the importance of voluntary stem cell donor registration. They also explained the registration process and addressed common doubts related to stem cell donation.

Following the awareness session, a large number of students voluntarily registered as potential stem cell donors. NSS and Youth Red Cross student volunteers assisted with the registration process and sample collection under the guidance of the DKMS team.

The programme was supported and encouraged by Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, who motivated the students to actively participate in the drive and contribute towards this life-saving cause.

The programme was welcomed and coordinated by Prof. P. Rakesh Mallya, NSS Coordinator, and Prof. Vivek Vijaykumar, Youth Red Cross Coordinator, with the support of NSS and Youth Red Cross faculty members and student volunteers. The programme successfully created awareness and encouraged students to contribute towards saving lives through stem cell donor registration.
