Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme titled -Say No to Ragging
The Anti-Ragging and Anti-Drug Committee of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme titled “Say No to Ragging” on 18th August 2026 at the institution. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of ragging and promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. The session emphasized that ragging is a crime and not a tradition, and highlighted the importance of respecting human dignity, protecting mental well-being, and maintaining a positive campus atmosphere.
The session was conducted by Dr. Lokesh V., HOD, Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, who served as the Coordinator and Speaker. During the session, he highlighted the different forms of ragging, including physical, verbal, emotional, and online/digital ragging, and sensitized students about the need to reject such practices and report incidents of ragging.
The programme also conveyed the message of “Respect Every Individual. Reject Ragging. Build a Better Community.” Students were encouraged to build friendships based on mutual respect rather than fear or humiliation and to contribute towards creating a safe and ragging-free campus. The programme was conducted in the presence of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, along with faculty members and students. The awareness programme concluded with a strong message that a ragging-free campus begins with the collective responsibility of every student and member of the institution.
The programme reinforced the institution’s commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and harmonious learning environment and encouraging students to uphold dignity, compassion, and mutual respect.
