Plantation Drive
The Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Association of Integrated Marine Engineering Students (AIMES), organized a “Plantation Drive” on 18 August 2026 at the institution campus.
The programme was organized as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations with the theme “Plant Today, Protect Tomorrow.” The initiative aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of environmental conservation, tree plantation, and maintaining a clean and green campus. The programme also emphasized the responsibility of students towards protecting nature and contributing to a sustainable environment. As part of the drive, students and members of AIMES actively participated in the plantation activity and contributed towards enhancing the greenery of the campus. The programme provided an opportunity for students to understand the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and promoting a healthier environment.
The programme was coordinated by Prof. Chandra Jogi, Departmental Event Coordinator; Prof. Rakesh Mallya, NSS Coordinator; and Prof. Vivek V. Kumar, AIMES Coordinator, with the support of the AIMES student members of the Department of Marine Engineering. The event was conducted in the presence of Dr. Lokesh V., Head, Department of Marine Engineering, along with other faculty members. Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, encouraged the students to actively participate in the plantation drive and contribute towards making the campus greener and more environmentally sustainable. The programme concluded with a strong message of environmental responsibility and the collective commitment of the students and faculty members towards creating a cleaner, greener, and sustainable campus.
