The Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Association of Integrated Marine Engineering Students (AIMES), conducted a “Pledge Taking Ceremony” on 14 August 2026.

The programme was organized on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, commemorating 80 years of independence, with the theme “One Nation, One Pledge, One Future.” The ceremony aimed to encourage students to uphold the values of the nation and reaffirm their commitment to honesty, integrity, dedication, cleanliness, and the overall development of the country. The ceremony provided an opportunity for students and faculty members to collectively take the pledge and express their commitment to becoming responsible citizens and contributing positively towards building a clean, green, and prosperous India.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Chandra Jogi, Departmental NSS Coordinator, and Prof. Vivek V. Kumar, AIMES Coordinator, with the support of the AIMES student members of the Department of Marine Engineering. The event was conducted in the presence of Dr. Lokesh V., Head, Department of Marine Engineering, along with other faculty members. Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, encouraged the students to actively participate in the event and uphold the values reflected in the pledge. The programme concluded with a renewed sense of patriotism, unity, and responsibility among the students and faculty members.
