From Idea to Investment: Unlocking Angel and Venture Capital Opportunities

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, through the All Student Mechanical Association (ASMA), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Incubation and Startup Cell, and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) Cell, organized an insightful session titled “From Idea to Investment: Unlocking Angel & Venture Capital Opportunities” on 13 August 2026 at 3:30 PM at M-101.

The session was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about the startup ecosystem, sources of entrepreneurial finance, and the various opportunities available for transforming innovative ideas into viable business ventures. The programme particularly focused on helping students understand how promising ideas can be developed into startups and subsequently attract funding from angel investors and venture capital firms.

Prof. Sunil Prakash R, Assistant Professor, served as the resource person for the session. He provided valuable insights into the fundamentals of startup funding and explained the roles of angel investors and venture capitalists in supporting emerging businesses. He also highlighted important aspects such as identifying suitable funding sources, presenting business ideas effectively, understanding investor expectations, and developing a sustainable business model.

The session encouraged students to think beyond conventional career pathways and explore entrepreneurship and innovation as potential career opportunities. The interaction also helped students gain a better understanding of how innovative ideas can be nurtured, developed, and transformed into commercially viable ventures with appropriate financial support.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Raghavendra M J, IIC-IA, with the support of the Prof. Sandesh K S, Staff Coordinator, ASMA and Prof. SathyaPrakash A, Incubation and Startup Cell, and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) Cell Coordinator, contributed to the organization of the programme. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shankar K S, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator, and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Managaluru.
