The Department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, jointly with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) Cell, and the Association of Integrated Marine Engineering Students (AIMES), conducted an expert session titled "Angel Investment and Venture Capital Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs" on 6 August 2026.

Prof. Sathisha K. G., Assistant Professor, Department of Marine Engineering, delivered an informative session on the role of angel investors and venture capital in supporting early-stage startups. He explained the startup funding process, investor expectations, and the importance of developing scalable business models through effective mentorship and networking. The session also highlighted strategies for pitching innovative business ideas and securing investments while addressing key aspects of investment planning and risk management. In addition, he discussed the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on entrepreneurship, emphasizing how AI-based startups are attracting significant investor interest worldwide. By sharing practical examples and successful startup stories, he motivated participants to think innovatively, recognize emerging opportunities, and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset for future ventures.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Sunil Prakash R., Departmental IIC Coordinator, Prof. Chandra Jogi, Departmental EDP Cell Coordinator, and Prof. Vivek V. Kumar, AIMES Coordinator, with the active support of AIMES student members. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members, demonstrating the institution's commitment to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup culture. The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Lokesh V., Head of the Department of Marine Engineering, and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D., Principal of the Institute, whose encouragement added value to the occasion.
