IIC Event “Innovation impact: From zero to hero”

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangalore, under the banner of the All Students Mechanical Association (ASMA), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized organized a motivational and skill-development session titled “Innovation to Impact: From Zero to Hero — Launching Tomorrow’s Careers,” on 26/11/2025, exclusively for the students of Mechanical Engineering. The program was conducted with the objective of inspiring students to develop innovative thinking, explore real-world engineering opportunities, and prepare themselves for future careers in the industrial and research sectors.

The session began with an introductory address by the IIC IA Dr. Raghavendra M J, Associate professor, department of Mechanical Engineering, who highlighted the importance of innovation in shaping the future of technology and engineering. The session was delivered by Prof. Sathyaprakash A, a distinguished resource person known for his expertise in career development, and industry–academia interaction. The event began with a welcome address by the faculty coordinator, who briefed the participants on the importance of innovation-driven learning in the current industrial scenario. A large number of students from different semesters attended and actively participated in the session.

Prof. Sathyaprakash emphasized that innovation is not limited to advanced laboratories or costly equipment; instead, it begins with identifying a problem, brainstorming simple ideas, and developing solutions that create real impact. He motivated students to develop a growth mindset, explaining how many successful engineers and entrepreneurs started with limited exposure but achieved excellence through dedication, continuous learning, and collaboration.

The resource person highlighted various emerging career pathways for mechanical engineers, including additive manufacturing, renewable energy systems, industrial automation, robotics, green technologies, product design, and advanced materials. He encouraged students to utilize internships, skill-based training, online certification courses, and multidisciplinary project opportunities to become industry-ready.

The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. Praveen shenoy, IIC Coordinator, Dr. Shankar K S, Professor and Hod of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangalore.
