An expert talk on “From Intern to Innovator: How Internships Shape Entrepreneurial Mindset” was organized on 3rd December 2025 by the Departments of Computer Science & Design (CSD) and Infor-mation Science & Engineering (ISE), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. The session aimed to highlight how internship experiences serve as a crucial foundation for nurturing innovative thinking and entrepreneurial capabilities among stu-dents.

The resource person, Dr. Dheeraj Hebri, Training and Placement Officer at Srinivas Institute of Technol-ogy, shared valuable insights on the transformative role internships play in shaping a student’s profession-al journey. He emphasized how real-world exposure, hands-on learning, and interaction with industry pro-fessionals help students develop creativity, confidence, and problem-solving abilities—key attributes of an entrepreneurial mindset. Dr. Dheeraj also discussed the importance of adaptability VTU rules and regula-tion , communication skills, teamwork, and proactive learning, all of which are cultivated during intern-ships.

Using real-life examples and motivational guidance, he encouraged students to make the most of intern-ship opportunities by approaching them with curiosity, responsibility, and a willingness to explore new ideas. The session was highly interactive, and students actively participated by asking questions and en-gaging in discussions about career development, skill-building, and future opportunities.

The success of this session was made possible due to the continuous support and encouragement of Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology, whose vision promotes a culture of in-novation and lifelong learning. Dr. Praveen Shenoy, IIC Coordinator, played a significant role in ensuring that the event aligned with the objectives of the Institution’s Innovation Council. The program also bene-fited from the leadership of Prof. Sudarshan K, Head of the Department of Information Science and Engi-neering, and from the excellent coordination of Prof. Sowmya, IIC Event Coordinator and Internship Coor-dinator Dept of ISE and Prof. Sahana Bandekar Event Coordinator and Internship Coordinator Dept of CSD , which contributed to the smooth and effective conduct of the program.
