As part of the Induction Programme, the EDP Cell and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized a series of informative sessions titled “Innovate, Compete, Create: The World of Hackathons & Startups.” The sessions were aimed at familiarizing students with the opportunities and possibilities available in hackathons, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the startup ecosystem.

The sessions were conducted by Prof. Shailesh Shetty S, HOD, CSBS Department, on different occasions and at different venues. The sessions introduced students to the fundamentals of hackathons, idea generation, teamwork, problem-solving, and the process of transforming innovative ideas into potential startup opportunities.

Objectives

1. To familiarize students with hackathons, innovation challenges, and the startup ecosystem, and encourage them to explore opportunities beyond the conventional academic curriculum.

2. To develop an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset among students by encouraging creativity, collaborative problem-solving, idea generation, and participation in innovation-driven activities.

Outcomes

1. Students gained a better understanding of hackathons, startup opportunities, idea development, and collaborative problem-solving, enabling them to identify and explore suitable innovation platforms.

2. The sessions motivated students to actively participate in hackathons, innovation challenges, and entrepreneurship activities and encouraged them to develop their ideas into practical solutions.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sumana V S, Prof. Ramya N C, and Prof. Ambika K, under the guidance of Dr. Sooryakrishna, Dr. Umashankar K S, and Prof. Amitha H. The programme was successfully conducted with the support and encouragement of Dr. Srinivasa Mayya D, Principal.

Overall, the sessions provided students with valuable exposure to the world of hackathons and startups and encouraged them to think creatively, work collaboratively, solve real-world problems, and explore opportunities in innovation and entrepreneurship.
