The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme on 19th August 2026 as part of the Anti-Ragging Awareness Week. The programme was conducted by Prof. Sudheendra H N under the guidance of Dr. Lokesh V, HOD, Department of Marine Engineering. The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among students about the harmful effects and consequences of ragging and to encourage them to uphold the values of respect, discipline, empathy, responsibility, and mutual understanding within the campus.

As part of the programme, an Anti-Ragging Pledge was co-ordinated by Prof. Sudheendra H N department co-ordinator of discipline committee and administered

by Dr. Shankar K S, HOD Department of Mechanical Engineering. The participating students actively read and recited the pledge, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. The pledge emphasized that students should neither participate in nor encourage ragging in any form and highlighted their responsibility in promoting a positive and harmonious academic atmosphere.

Following the pledge, the students were instructed to complete and submit the Anti-Ragging Undertaking Forms in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Through these undertakings, the students committed themselves to refraining from ragging activities and to supporting the institution's efforts towards maintaining a ragging-free campus.

A total of 12 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering actively participated in the programme. The session provided students with an opportunity to understand the seriousness of ragging, its adverse impact on individuals and the institution, and the importance of fostering healthy, respectful, and supportive relationships among peers.

The programme successfully reinforced awareness about the importance of maintaining a safe, disciplined, respectful, inclusive and ragging-free campus. The active participation of the students reflected their commitment to promoting harmony, mutual respect, and a positive academic culture at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru.
