AI for Industry 4.0: Smart Manufacturing and Predictive Analytics

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru, in association with AMARA (Association of Automobile and Aeronautical Engineering) and the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) Cell, organized an expert talk on “AI for Industry 4.0: Smart Manufacturing and Predictive Analytics” on 30 May 2026 at M503. The session was delivered by Dr. Umashankar K. S., Professor, Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru.

The resource person highlighted the key concepts of Industry 4.0, including intelligent automation, machine learning, digital twins, predictive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making in manufacturing systems. He explained how AI technologies can improve productivity, product quality, and operational efficiency through predictive analytics.

A case study on the implementation of AI and automation in a biogas plant demonstrated the use of sensors and IIoT technology to monitor critical parameters and optimize plant performance. The discussion showcased the potential of Industry 4.0 technologies in developing smart and sustainable bioenergy systems.

The session provided valuable insights into emerging industrial technologies and their practical applications. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, followed by an interactive discussion. The session commenced with the introduction of the resource person by Ms. Hruthika, a 4th Semester Aeronautical Engineering student, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by her.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Niranjan Prabhu and Prof. Prakash T, Department IIC Coordinators, under the guidance of Dr. Praveen Shenoy (HOD-AE), Dr. Sandesh Kumar Rai (HOD–AU), Dr. Soorya Krishna K (EDP Cell Coordinator) and Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal, SIT.
