An expert talk on “AI-Based Innovation Models for Digital Transformation” was organized on 19th December 2025 by the Departments of Computer Science and Design (CSD), Information Science and Engineering (ISE), and Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and EDP cell at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. The session aimed to familiarize students with the role of Artificial Intelligence in driving innovation and enabling digital transformation across various sectors.

The resource person, Prof. Vivek Vijaykumar, Assistant Professor Department of Marine Engineering, delivered an insightful and engaging session highlighting how AI-driven innovation models are reshaping industries such as healthcare, finance, education, manufacturing, and smart governance. He explained key AI concepts including machine learning, deep learning, data-driven decision-making, and intelligent automation, emphasizing their practical applications in solving real-world problems. The session also covered the integration of AI into business and organizational models to enhance efficiency, scalability, and competitive advantage.

Through illustrative examples, live demonstrations, and case studies, Prof. Vivek Vijaykumar helped students understand how AI-based innovation supports digital transformation initiatives and fosters sustainable technological growth. He also discussed the importance of ethical AI practices, data privacy, and responsible innovation in the digital era.

Students actively participated in the interactive session by raising thoughtful questions related to AI implementation challenges, career opportunities in AI, and innovation-driven research. The talk significantly enhanced their understanding of emerging AI technologies and motivated them to explore AI-focused projects and entrepreneurial initiatives.
